The biggest mental health study ever just revealed something nobody expected

1 min read

Eighty-four countries. Three hundred thousand people. One massive study.

The Global Mind Project just dropped the largest mental health report ever published, and it found four causes behind the worldwide decline in how we think and feel. Smartphones given to children too young. Weaker family connections. Ultra-processed food. And a loss of spirituality and purpose.

Four problems. Sounds overwhelming, right?

But after reading the report, I realised something. You don’t need to fix all four. You fix two, and the other two fix themselves.

Think about it. Get the phones out of children’s hands, and families reconnect. Kids eat together. They talk. They’re actually present at the dinner table instead of scrolling through someone else’s life.

Fix the food, take out the ultra-processed rubbish, and the brain starts working the way it’s supposed to. Your brain is your most energy-hungry organ. When you feed it properly, everything shifts. Purpose comes back. Connection comes back. That sense of meaning that so many people have lost? It returns.

I’ve run businesses with hundreds of employees, and I can tell you that mental health is now almost always the first discussion in the boardroom. Not productivity. Not sales. Mental health. So when a study of this size lands on my desk, I pay attention.

Australia has already banned under-sixteens from social media. That’s a start. And at a health conference in Miami, Dr Hoffmann showed two charts, obesity and mental health, and they were almost identical. Both hitting a billion people worldwide.

This isn’t four separate crises. It’s two, manifesting as four.

Fix the food. Fix the phones. And watch what happens.

Your action today: If you get time, why not take a look at the full report.
