Accountability
There, I've said it. Why am I telling you this? Accountability.
Turning 60 last week made me realise this is one of the final parts of my own health puzzle, and it felt like the right moment to try a year without the booze.
Here's the thing about public accountability, it works. When you tell people about your health goals, you create a social contract. It's no longer just you versus your own willpower on a Tuesday evening. It's you versus the version of yourself you told everyone you'd become. That's powerful.
I've spent years helping people understand metabolic health, sugar tolerance, and real food. I've consulted with billionaires on supplementation routines and spoken at the House of Lords about nutrition policy. But alcohol? That's been my remaining blind spot. Not a problem, but not optimised either.
And at 60, I'm curious what a full year without it might reveal about sleep quality, recovery, mental clarity, and metabolic flexibility. This isn't about perfection. It's about experimentation and honesty. If I can help thousands of people transform their relationship with food through Clubwell, surely I can examine my own relationship with alcohol. But I needed to say it out loud. To you.
Because accountability turns private intentions into public commitments, and public commitments are far harder to break.
Your action today: Think about one health goal you've been keeping private. Maybe it's reducing alcohol, maybe it's finally prioritising sleep, maybe it's eliminating ultra-processed snacks. Tell someone today. Post it in the Clubwell chat rooms. Make it real by making it public.
